Ruby Dienstag
I am currently in the fifth year of my Psy.D program at Adler University, and an intern at The Village. The Village is an community center and HIV clinic for BIPOC Queer and Transgender folx who do not have health insurance. My work at the village, and in my psychology career thus far, has been primarily focused on working with the Transgender, Non-binary, and gender queer communities. I also work with minority stress, specifically as it applies to race, gender, and sexuality. My dissertation is a qualitative phenomenological investigation of Transgender and gender non-conforming individuals who practice ethical/consensual non-monogamy. (If you are interested in my topic or have resources you would like to share please let me know!)
As a member of the LGBTQIA2+ community I am very passionate about my work because I see it as my responsibility to support the most vulnerable populations within our family. I see therapy, research, and education as tools for achieving the social justice I hope to be a part of creating in our world. I believe Gender Spectrum is an embodiment of this mission, and I'm excited to continue learning with all of you!
