Using Gender Support Plans
Limited Capacity filling up

For many caregivers and educators, even the possibility of a young person announcing a change in their gender status at school seems overwhelming if not impossible. However, some transgender students are taking this courageous step and successfully doing so while remaining enrolled in their educational institution. What are the key elements of a positive experience? What preparation, training and conditions need to be considered as students and their families make the difficult decision to support a child's authentic gender in the classroom? After exploring key principles that must be considered when a student shares their gender with their school community, the session will present specific tools and resources for supporting a student to safely and successfully do so.

Safe at School: A Parent's Panel and Discussion
Limited Capacity filling up

We know how influential a supportive school environment is on the well-being of our
trans and nonbinary students, but what does that actually look like in practice? Once
you’ve got the basics down, where do you go from there?

The experience of every trans person is unique, so we aim to help equip you with
stories from our community that are there to provide answers and education. Join us to
hear directly from a panel of trans and nonbinary students and their parents about what
their schools have done wrong, what they’ve done right, and what they wish they had
known when they started their journey together.
