How do I respond when parents have questions or concerns about young children’s gender exploration? How do I let families know that their child has been excluding or teasing on the basis of gender? How do I welcome and engage gender-expansive family members? We will share key approaches to partnering with families to support their children’s gender health. Participants will come away with a framework for communicating with families across different understandings of gender and experience practicing these conversations in a supportive environment. Participants will also be given take-home tools and resources to inform their future work with children and families. This workshop is presented by members of Gender Justice in Early Childhood Education and is geared toward caregivers, teachers and administrators at all levels of the profession who wish to support gender diversity in their programs.
