A Case Study for Trans-Affirming Ritual and Learning: They Mitzvah or B'nai Mitzvah LIMITED

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Limited Capacity seats available

Core milestone rituals can be a way that spiritual communities honor individuals and connect them to community, history, and the sacred. In many traditions, these milestone moments are often arranged with a binary and cisgender framework. When this is the case, rather than moments of affirmation and connection, these rituals can be barriers for transgender and nonbinary individuals. In this workshop, we will use the Jewish emerging adult ritual of B’Mitzvah to explore questions, tools, and innovations to make these rituals (both religious and secular) gender-affirming and celebratory of participants of all genders. Folks of all faiths and/or no faith welcome.[Advanced]
